Our Team

Meet RECOFTC's staff, leadership, and Board of Trustees.

RECOFTC is a fast growing organization employing a hundred professionals from 17 countries in key international and local positions in its country offices. Drawn from different backgrounds with special skills related to its thematic and other work areas, RECOFTC’s staff is united in their passion for helping communities better manage forests in Asia and the Pacific. Over 50 staff members are based in Bangkok, Thailand, at the Center's headquarters, and in-country staff are based in offices in Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. RECOFTC’s current portfolio of over 60 projects and training services has doubled under the current Strategic Plan with new opportunities for further expansion on track in Myanmar and Laos in 2013.

 

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is RECOFTC's paramount governing body. It consists of 15 members drawn from senior government and civil society organizations, eminent individuals from the world of community forestry, donors, universities, and the Center's executive director. Staff Leadership

Dr. David Ganz, Executive Director 

David Ganz has over 20 years of experience in natural resource management including several years working in Asia on large-scale natural resource management and biomass energy projects. Before joining RECOFTC, David served as the Chief of Party on SERVIR-Mekong, a joint initiative between USAID and NASA aimed at developing geospatial data to respond to the environmental and disaster needs of the region. Prior to SERVIR-Mekong, David was Chief of Party on USAID’s Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (USAID LEAF) programme. From 1999 to 2002, David worked as an Assistant Project Officer at RECOFTC headquarters. He is a graduate of two distinguished community forestry institutions, University of California at Berkeley and Yale University, which promote multi-disciplinary decision-making through strong communication and team work skills. He has successfully taken these skills into project management of international organizations including TNC, FAO, IUCN and WWF in China and Southeast Asia.

 

Dr. Chandra Silori, Manager, Program Coordination and Operations 

Dr. Silori has more than 25 years of professional experience in participatory forestry management, research and analysis and relevant policy development in the Asia-Pacific region.  Dr. Silori joined RECOFTC in 2009 as coordinator of a regional REDD+ capacity development project and became Program Coordination and Operations Manager in 2016. Prior to joining RECOFTC, Dr. Silori worked with various research and capacity development institutions in India, including The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology (GUIDE), and the Wildlife Institute of India (WII). He managed projects focusing on participatory forest management, watershed development, biodiversity conservation, protected area management, and wildlife conservation. Dr. Silori has widely published in peer-reviewed journals, books, edited volumes, training manuals, discussion papers and policy briefs. 

 

Mr. Ronnakorn Triraganon

Ronnakorn Triraganon, Manager, Capacity Development and Technical Services

Mr. Ronnakorn Triraganon has been working in the community-based natural resource management sector since 1980. He began his career doing field work on Community Forestry with the Thai Royal Forest Department, joining RECOFTC in 1996. He has extensive experience promoting local people’s knowledge and customary rights to ensure sustainable natural resource management and fair distribution of benefits through participatory approaches. With his professional background in forestry and extensive experience in promoting local participation in natural resource management in the last few decades, Ronn is one of the most experienced trainers in his subject in the region. He has trained a number of community forestry practitioners at all levels of government and civil society from different parts of the world. He also has been involved in capacity building program developments for several projects working to promote community- based natural resource management in South and Southeast Asia, and Eastern Africa.
