Event Management

Event Management

We plan and implement events on behalf of like-minded organizations, networks, and groups.

To help promote the causes of community forestry, local people's rights, and effective natural resource management, RECOFTC can organize and run events on the local, national, regional, or international scale in locations throughout Asia and the Pacific.

We offer years of experience planning conferences, forums, meetings, workshops, trainings, and field visits. Drawing on our wealth of partnerships in the region, we take care of all of the logistics, including:

  • Scoping out locations
  • Inviting participants and managing the RSVP list
  • Arranging speakers
  • Organizing field visits
  • Coordinating accommodation
  • Designing the schedule
  • Producing and distributing follow-up reports, briefs, and press releases

Recent partnership events

Knowledge Exchange Forum on Promoting Rights and Livelihoods through Forest and Farm Producer Organizations, 2016
This event was co-organized with the International Family Forestry Alliance, the Asian Farmers Association for Sustainable Rural Development, and the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) - a global partnership between FAO, IIED, IUCN, and AgriCord. Participants included over 85 forest and farm producers from Viet Nam, Nepal and Myanmar. The forum included an exchange visit to learn about smallholder enterprises from a local community in Thailand.

Expert Meeting on Forests and Climate Change, 2016
The 21st Conference of Parties (COP 21) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris in 2015 resulted in the Paris Agreement, which is seen by many as a turning point in international climate negotiations. Their implications have been particularly significant in the context of forests. In view of this, forest sector stakeholders in Asia and the Pacific require succinct and accurate information on the outcomes of COP 21 and the Paris Agreement. Together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), RECOFTC brought together 12 experts from multiple countries as well as key institutions in the Asia and the Pacific region to discuss the implications of COP21 for the region.

First Regional Forum for People and Forests, August 2009
Working with FAO and Vietnam’s Forest Sector Support Partnership (FSSP), RECOFTC brought together more than 80 participants from 12 countries at the Horison Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, to discuss the latest developments in carbon financing and community forestry. The three-day event included presentations of case studies and topical issues, expert panel discussions, a film viewing, group work sessions, and a field visit.

International Conference on Poverty Reduction and Forests, September 2007
In collaboration with the Rights and Resources Initiative, RECOFTC welcomed 300 attendees from 46 countries at the Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok. Five thematic sessions formed the basic structure of the conference — each explored through plenary presentations, a poster session, and parallel presentations and discussion groups.
