Social forestry and climate change baseline information in ASEAN countries, taken from ASFN Baseline Report 2013...

The country information is taken from ASFN Report Current Status of Social Forestry in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation,  a Situational Analysis of Social Forestry and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.  The report compiles key national forestry data, including forest cover and the area managed by local people, providing a snapshot of the status of forests and social forestry in the ASEAN region in 2013.  The report also presents information on key climatic changes observed in the region, as well as an overview of national policies, laws and programmes on social forestry and climate change in each country.

The Situational Analysis focuses on eight ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia (particularly the state of Sabah), Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) and provides an update to the initial Baseline Assessment on Social Forestry and Climate Change published in 2010.  The report was produced by RECOFTC as part of its collaboration with the ASEAN Social Forestry Network.
