Regional Model Forest Network–Asia Advisory Committee meeting

The Regional Model Forest Network–Asia during the 2024 Advisory Committee meeting.
Representatives from the Regional Model Forest Network–Asia's (RMFN–Asia) eight Model Forests, spread across China, India, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, will convene for the 2025 Advisory Committee meeting. Hosted by Carood Watershed Model Forest, the meeting will be held in Bohol, the Philippines.
RMFN–Asia is a community of practice promoting the sustainable management of forest landscapes using the Model Forest approach. Established in 2000, we are one of six regional networks under the International Model Forest Network (IMFN).
During the annual Advisory Committee meeting, members come together to review key developments, successes and challenges and deliberate on possible ways forward. The last RMFN–Asia Advisory Committee meeting was held in January 2024 in Lampang, Thailand, which is home to the Ngao Model Forest.
Objectives
- Exchange and reflect on the current situations of participating Model Forests – their successes, challenges faced and lessons learned
- Discuss and identify priority areas and opportunities to promote and advance Model Forests in Asia
- Learn firsthand from the experiences of the Carood Watershed Model Forest over the course of a two-day field visit
- Prepare for the IMFN Global Forum, which will be held in Canada’s Eastern Ontario Model Forest in May 2025
The Regional Model Forest Network–Asia Advisory Committee meeting is held with support from local Model Forest stakeholders: the Carood Watershed Model Forest Management Council, the Forest Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines (FMB–DENR), and DENR Regional Office 7 (Central Visayas).
