As part of the sub-theme 6 on partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and local communities that deliver sustainable forest management in fragile ecosystems at the World Forestry Congress, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is organizing a session to reflect on approaches and ways to strengthen the resilience of forest ecosystems and the livelihoods they support.

In this session, RECOFTC is partnering with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the Abertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS) to create an interactive space, including an online survey allowing the audience to help diagnose the current issues surrounding sustainable forest management in vulnerable ecosystems and finding long term solutions.

The event will provide an overview of emerging issues on the status of vulnerable ecosystems and draw on the experiences of sustainable and resilient forest landscape approach promoted by ICIMOD, ARCOS and RECOFTC on what models work and what challenges remain.
