Technical guidelines on forest fire prevention, response and recovery

The technical guidelines on forest fire prevention, response and recovery addresses the forest fire challenges faced during the dry season, particularly between January and May in Lao PDR. Developed by the Department of Forestry with support from RECOFTC and partners, these guidelines align with Prime Minister's Order No. 11/NA (2023) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's directives. This publication outlines comprehensive strategies for mitigating forest fires through community-based approaches and collaborative efforts, leveraging local knowledge to identify high-risk areas, creating firebreaks and enhancing coordination across national, provincial, district and village levels.
