Conversation Forum: Creating transformative shifts for gender equality
Join the conversation to improve forest governance through gender equality on 16 November 2021 from 1 to 4 PM ICT!
RECOFTC through the WAVES or Weaving Leadership for Gender Equality initiative is organizing a Conversation Forum that focuses on overcoming barriers to achieve gender equality in forest landscape governance. This online event offers a space for practitioners, policy makers and academics working on gender equality issues in forestry in the region.
Stakeholders have increasingly recognized the importance of gender equality in forestry and sustainable development. But challenges remain in realizing this objective. There is a need to go beyond the “business-as-usual” approaches in forestry and development practice. It is time to propose new ways of thinking and engaging to tackle these challenges. More than ever, we need to leverage collective efforts from all stakeholders to achieve gender equality—from practice to policy and academia.
At the WAVES Conversation Forum, community forest leaders and practitioners across the region will present evidence and share experiences from the field on the topic.
Experts and officials from gender departments at national governments, policy-making and research institutions, development organizations, youth, and media organizations will reflect on how these inequalities persist in gender policies and regulations in the forest landscape. They will expand their knowledge and networks, as well as create conditions for collaboration to drive change for equitable and sustainable forest management.
This event is organized with the support of the Voices for Mekong Forests project and in partnership with the Mekong Region Land Governance project.
The event is open to the public. Invite your contacts and networks to join us.

The Weaving Leadership for Gender Equality (WAVES) initiative enhances leadership skills and supports the capacity of leaders to advocate for gender equality. RECOFTC implements WAVES with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). For more information on WAVES visit this page.
The Voices for Mekong Forests (V4MF) project also provided financial support to host the Conversation Forum. V4MF works to increase the capacity of non-state actors to engage in forest landscape governance in the Mekong region.
RECOFTC's work is made possible with the continuous support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
