Leaders from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Viet Nam will reflect on their progress over the past two years as part of the Weaving Leadership for Gender Equality (WAVES) initiative from 29 to 31 March 2021.

RECOFTC launched the WAVES initiative in 2019 to cultivate gender champions and deepen their influence and impact. Since then, RECOFTC has supported 35 leaders to promote gender equity within their work—mainstreaming gender in climate change, REDD+, forestry, law enforcement, governance and trade policies and processes.

The regional event at the end of March brings together representatives from governments, institutions, civil society, local communities and media who have been working to promote gender equality and social inclusion across the forestry and environmental sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.

Findings from national workshops held in February and March across the Asia-Pacific region with WAVES leaders will be presented at the regional event held on Zoom.

The event is by invitation only.

RECOFTC's work through the WAVES initiative is made possible with the continuous support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
