About RMFN–Asia

RECOFTC and the Regional Model Forest Network–Asia
RECOFTC has been serving as the Regional Model Forest Network–Asia (RMFN–Asia) Secretariat since January 2024. RECOFTC manages and supports the network’s day-to-day operations, facilitates knowledge sharing, coordinates meetings, and maintains regional communications.
Working closely with the International Model Forest Network Secretariat in Ottawa, Canada, RECOFTC, as Secretariat, collaborates with the Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), the Global Landscapes Forum, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Forestry. The Department of Natural Resources of Canada supports this collaboration through its Global Forest Leadership Program.

Join us to become the next Model Forest
A new member is always welcome to join our global network of Model Forests. First, a prospective Model Forest must identify a landscape, gather its stakeholders and prepare a strategic plan. It must then submit a proposal and the related strategic plan to the International Model Forest Network Secretariat and the respective regional network’s Secretariat for endorsement.
The International Model Forest Network has more information on how to become a member as well as a toolkit that provides information on starting a Model Forest.
