RECOFTC Indonesia urges collaboration and forest preservation at Fahutan UnHas Anniversary
The theme for this year's Fahutan UnHas Anniversary is "Managing innovative higher education and alumni who contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the forestry sector". The anniversary celebration aims to celebrate the entire UnHas academic community for the hard work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations also known as SDGs.
The activities took place throughout March 2021. They included village development programs, exhibitions of wood and non-timber forest products, meetings between stakeholders, write-shops for research and proposals, and empowerment/community service, writing competitions and online national seminars.
Director of RECOFTC Indonesia, Gamma Galudra, congratulated the Fahutan UnHas community for its achievements at an online event on 27 March 2021. “The collaboration between UnHas and RECOFTC Indonesia started in 2009 and continues to this day’” said Galudra. “There are many records of our success and achievements with Fahutan UnHas, and I hope that this collaboration will continue, with more partnerships and new opportunities for cooperation, especially for forest and environmental sustainability, in the years to come.
At present, RECOFTC's conducts activities in South Sulawesi in partnership with the Akar Tani Cooperative in Bantaeng. The partnership was initiated with a field visit to Hasanuddin University in 2009.
