Webinar on integrating gender in forest management practices

Dec 28
2020
Location
Online

Research shows that increasing women’s participation in initiatives improves outcomes and impact. For example, studies have found that in peace negotiations women’s participation increases the likelihood that an agreement is reached. Moreover, agreements that have included women are 35 percent more likely to last for 15 years.

This effect is the same across many industries including forestry. Integrating gender approaches in forest management does improve the outcomes of all that we do. This webinar is dedicated to showing how.

Join this webinar to learn about:

  • Legal frameworks and policies related to gender, the environment and community forestry
  • Gender issues in forest management with focus on forest governance, community forestry and protected areas
  • Barriers to addressing gender issues within field-level forest management
  • Practical examples of activities that can be implemented to address gender barriers and promote gender equality in forestry practice

The webinar is open to the public. People who may be interested in it include non-state actors, such as civil society organizations, national and international non-governmental organizations, working with local communities in environmental conservation and forest management. The webinar will also provide useful information for government stakeholders who are working in the forestry sector in Myanmar.
