Explore National Advisory Committee – Indonesia meeting

The first meeting of Explore’s National Advisory Committee (NAC) in Indonesia will bring together members of the NAC in Indonesia, the Explore Secretariat, representatives from the RECOFTC main office, RECOFTC Indonesia, CIFOR-ICRAF and principal investigators (PIs) and co-PIs from Explore-supported research teams in Indonesia.
Explore, funded by the Government of Sweden, is hosted by RECOFTC, in partnership with CIFOR-ICRAF. We collaborate with universities, research institutes, governments, civil society organizations, local communities and the private sector in Southeast Asia.
The NACs play a vital role in guiding us and our research teams in conducting high-quality, participatory and gender-inclusive research – influencing policy and decision-making at the landscape and national levels. The NACs aim to strengthen connections amongst the Explore research network and key stakeholders in forest landscape governance and national government ministries, research institutes, NGOs and the private sector.
The NAC in Indonesia includes representatives from Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry and the Extension and Human Resource Development Agency. Specific representatives include a principal advisor from the Ministry of Forestry, a former director general of the Social Forestry and Environment Partnership of the Ministry of Forestry and a representative from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Members of the Explore Secretariat (RECOFTC main office and CIFOR-ICRAF) and RECOFTC Indonesia are also part of the NAC. We are currently in the process of establishing NACs in each one of our focus countries – Cambodia, Lao PDR, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam – to support research uptake into policy.
