Gender Leadership Co-Lab Program Initial Meeting in Indonesia

On January 24th, 2019, The Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC) held the national initial meeting in Indonesia, which is part of the regional Gender Leadership Co-Lab program supported by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). This program supports partners’ capacity building and networking programs which obtaining the gender outputs expected by the organization and institution partners. 

The Gender Leadership Co-Lab Initiative by RECOFTC aims to provide a co-creation platfrom to test and to implement new ideas that aimed at bringing gender equality in the natural resources management. This initiative is a group initiative of individuals from NGO, women’s group, investor, private companies that will promote gender equality and women’s empowerment agendas from their organizations through co-creation, skills development, and leadership empowerment. 

This initial meeting was facilitated by The Center, with the resource person Dr. Kalpana Giri, The Center’s gender expert. The participants were representatives of partners from government officials, NGO, and private sector, namely sub-national CEFET (Center of Environmental and Forestry Education Training), Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, University of Hassanuddin, Sulawesi Community Foundation (SCF), PEREMPUAN AMAN, Rimbawan Muda Indonesia, and APRIL group. 

The objective of this initial meeting is to introduce the Gender Leadership Co-Lab program, to discuss gender activities that are already done or will be carried out by the participants and the challenges, and to discuss what supports RECOFTC can provide in facing those challenges especially those related to capacity development.
